MultiChoice Uganda has officially launched its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in Uganda, unveiling comprehensive SuperSport coverage, affordable subscription options, and customer promotions ahead of the global football showpiece scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
The tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada, will feature 48 nations and a record 104 matches. All matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport through DStv, GOtv, DStv Stream and GOtv Stream platforms.
Speaking at the launch, Hassan Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Uganda, described the tournament as a historic moment for African football, noting that a record 10 African countries have qualified for the competition.
“This is a proud moment for African football. We are excited to see South Africa, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo represent the continent on the biggest stage in world football,” Saleh said.
He added that customers will enjoy round-the-clock coverage through dedicated SuperSport channels that will be rebranded for the World Cup, alongside a special FIFA World Cup pop-up channel.
“Beyond the competitive matches, subscribers will be treated to highlights, expert analysis, exclusive World Cup magazine shows, African football stories and behind-the-scenes content. The FIFA World Cup experience will be even more immersive, with local commentary in Kiswahili and other languages,” he said.
On DStv, the tournament will be available on SuperSport World Cup Channel 222, SuperSport World Cup Extra Channel 223 and SuperSport World Cup Swahili Channel 224. GOtv subscribers will access the action on SuperSport World Cup Central Channel 361, SuperSport World Cup Pass Channel 363 and SuperSport World Cup Extra Channel 365.
Colin Asiimwe, Head of Marketing at MultiChoice Uganda, said subscribers will also benefit from the company’s streaming services as viewing habits continue to evolve.
“Subscribers will be able to watch the World Cup at their convenience anytime and anywhere through the DStv Stream and GOtv Stream apps on smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and laptops,” Asiimwe said.
He noted that affordability remains a key focus for the company, with access to the FIFA World Cup extended to DStv Access and GOtv Plus subscribers.
DStv Access subscribers will pay Shs49,000 per month, while GOtv Plus subscribers will pay Shs36,000 monthly.
“To make this even easier, customers can subscribe through the flexible seven-day Ka Weekie package at just Shs15,000 for DStv Access and Shs11,500 for GOtv Plus, allowing them to follow the tournament week by week,” Asiimwe said.
“We want every Ugandan to enjoy every moment of the tournament live on SuperSport at an affordable price.”
As part of the World Cup campaign, MultiChoice Uganda has also rolled out decoder and hardware promotions running from May 11 to August 31, 2026.
Under the promotion, DStv Standard decoders are retailing at Shs20,000, DStv Zapper decoders at Shs15,000, Explora decoders at Shs559,000, and full DStv kits at Shs45,000. GOtv decoders (Gotenna) are available at Shs15,000.
“These offers are designed to make it easier for families and football fans across the country to upgrade or join the DStv and GOtv family ahead of the World Cup,” Asiimwe said.
Customers will also have an opportunity to participate in the SuperSport Predict and Win promotion through the DStv Stream app, where fans can predict match results throughout the tournament for a chance to win prizes.
